deegree Wiki

deegree is an open source project dedicated to providing geospatial components for the Java platform. The deegree project is an official OSGeo project and free to use according to the LGPL licence. The following diagram shows an overview of the available components:

1. What Can I Do With deegree ?

deegree web services

• Set up deegree web-mapping services with advanced vector/raster styling and rich backend support.

• Deploy complex application schemas, such as INSPIRE Data Themes, XPlanung, AAA or GeoSciML.

• Set up deegree catalogueService to serve ISO/INSPIRE metadata.

• Use deegree processingService to add the packaged or your own geospatial processes to your SDI.

deegree desktop applications

• deegree desktop is a modular and highly-customisable desktop GIS.

deegree web applications

• iGeoPortal is a web client that offers visualisation of geodata through a standard web browser using WMS servers as map source.

• coordinateCalculator is a web client offering a means to transform geographical coordinates from one coordinate reference system to another. deegree "knows" round about 3000 different CRS.

• owsWatch is a web client for monitoring your web services and their performance.

deegree security components

• Set up owsProxy as a proxy to OGC Web Services (OWS). On the outside, owsProxy will behave like the secured OWS itself. But on the inside, it will offer additional options for filtering in- and output to restrict access to features and layers of WFS and WMS according to the settings in the database.

• Set up a database containing the rights and restrictions of users to access certain layers (WMS) and feature types (WFS).

• Use drm-admin as web frontend for the deegree security components, to create users, add layers and feature types to the database, and administer rights and roles.

3. deegree Versions

• deegree 3 webservices:
  The latest official release of deegree 3 can be downloaded or tested in an online demonstration. CategoryDeegree3 will provide you with a full list of pages on the latest version of deegree.

• deegree 2:
  The current stable version of deegree2 is version 2.4 (published in November 2010). If you are interested in an list of all pages on deegree 2 please search for CategoryDeegree2.
